Polar Ice Frozen Yogurt: Blue Ridge’s Newest Special Treat Store

There is something new and yummy in Downtown Blue Ridge on Main Street. Polar Ice serves frozen yogurt, gelato, sorbet, and Italian ice. If you find the need to add something delicious to your sweet treat, they have over 40 toppings including sprinkles, fruit, and candies. My favorite topping is the Bobas, a little pearl bursting with juice. It may sound unusual but just trust me and try them. They also have soft serve blueberry and coconut which are all natural and favorites of the local Crossfitter crowd after a tough workout. Once you find your favorite, go often and […]

The Blue Ridge GA Cannery

Do you have an abundance of fruit or vegetables from your garden? The Blue Ridge Cannery opened for the season July 7th and is open each Tuesday and Thursday in July, August, and September. Although you may find it intimidating if you’ve never been there before, trust me, there are many people there with years and years of experience ready to help. All you have to do is show up with food to can and they will walk you through the process. I have done some canning at home in the past and it is not only messy but very […]

Celebrating the 4th of July in Blue Ridge GA

Blue Ridge GA and our North Georgia mountains are a great place to be for the 4th of July. Celebrations and fireworks abound in our mountain communities. This year, on July 1st you can start your patriotic celebrating on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway’s Firecracker Express. It travels from Blue Ridge to McCaysville and is a great way to enjoy the TriCities fireworks display at the top of Tater Hill. The best part is that you don’t have to worry about parking or traffic after the fireworks are over because the train will return you to Blue Ridge after the […]

Showing Off My Blue Ridge GA

So, I have family coming in town this weekend. They’re from Florida and I can’t wait to visit and show off my beautiful North Georgia town. I’ve been having so much fun planning all of the activities while they’re here. We will be going to Mercier Orchard for breakfast, shopping, and produce of course. We will definitely get freshly picked, mouth watering strawberries while there. We will shop Main Street hitting many of my favorite stores like: The Owl’s Nest, Blue Ridge Cotton Company, Blue Ridge Mountain Outfitters, Out of the Blue, Humble Pie Boutique, and Blue Ridge Olive Oil […]

Enjoying the Beauty of Blue Ridge GA on Horseback

I did it! I really did. I climbed on the back of a horse named Rocky and took off on the trail. Horses are big, everyone knows that. But sidling up next to him was intimidating. He’s done this before though, he’s a pro so there was nothing to worry about. I went out, with a guide, through our picturesque mountains … on horseback! It was nice. Really nice. Calm and quiet, we went for a trip through the mountains, along a stream where Rocky stopped to take a drink, coming to a precipice where I could see for miles. […]

The Magic of a Campfire

A camp fire is magical. Everything about it is truly mesmerizing. Have you ever noticed that? Everyone heads out, gathers twigs and logs, and lighting it is more of an adventure than you’d think it should be. It’s surprising to me how all of the cell phones disappear. Stories are told and laughter is loud and abundant. Marshmallows on their own are sort of bland, but toast them over flames and they are groaningly scrumptious. Beer and wine taste better, friends and family linger. Time. Stands. Still. I love the background sound of the tree frogs, the snap and crackle […]
