online vs in personWhen looking for a new home, the first place many people look is the Internet. Within just a couple of minutes you have hundreds if not thousands of properties to peruse. There are many sites like Trulia, Zillow, Realtor.com, and of course, my website search with easy to use filters to show you just what you’re looking for. It’s a great resource and a useful first step when looking for a home, especially if you’re moving from out of town.

However, it’s important to note that pictures and descriptions can be misleading. Often times, the pictures will make a home look bigger and staging will be used to make the home look more luxurious. There is nothing like seeing a property in person to get a true sense of the home and enable you to weigh the pros and cons. Do you like the neighborhood as a whole? Is there a lot of work that needs to be done to the house? How far is it from town?

Online is a great first step. Get a feel for the prices in the area, the style of homes. Then find a Realtor® that will help find homes specific to your needs and go look at them. Buying a property is a big decision and investment. It’s good to have a Realtor® by your side helping you through the process.
