Showing Off My Blue Ridge GA

So, I have family coming in town this weekend. They’re from Florida and I can’t wait to visit and show off my beautiful North Georgia town. I’ve been having so much fun planning all of the activities while they’re here. We will be going to Mercier Orchard for breakfast, shopping, and produce of course. We will definitely get freshly picked, mouth watering strawberries while there. We will shop Main Street hitting many of my favorite stores like: The Owl’s Nest, Blue Ridge Cotton Company, Blue Ridge Mountain Outfitters, Out of the Blue, Humble Pie Boutique, and Blue Ridge Olive Oil […]

Enjoying the Beauty of Blue Ridge GA on Horseback

I did it! I really did. I climbed on the back of a horse named Rocky and took off on the trail. Horses are big, everyone knows that. But sidling up next to him was intimidating. He’s done this before though, he’s a pro so there was nothing to worry about. I went out, with a guide, through our picturesque mountains … on horseback! It was nice. Really nice. Calm and quiet, we went for a trip through the mountains, along a stream where Rocky stopped to take a drink, coming to a precipice where I could see for miles. […]

The Thrill of Ziplining in Blue Ridge GA

I’m not necessarily a thrill seeker. That being said, sometimes a rush of adrenaline is just what a person needs. Here in North Georgia we have a multitude of thrill opportunities like white water rafting and army tank demolition (yes, you can destroy cars and such with a real tank here but that is a future post). One that I really didn’t think much of at first was zip lining. How I was mistaken! How exhilarating to fly – FLY – through the air! All of the companies in our area take safety as their main concern which is evident […]

Visit Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge

There are a plethora of waterfalls in the North Georgia mountains. Some are an easy quick hike and some are a little more strenuous to get to. One of the most popular waterfalls is Amicalola Falls that at 729 feet, is the tallest cascading waterfall in the Southeast. You can access the falls from Amicalola Falls State Park which is 829 acres and home to a 57-Room Lodge & Conference Center, 14 cottages, 25 campsites, and day use areas. Other attractions at the park include: 12 miles of hiking trails, picnicking, trout fishing, playground, and geocaching. To access the falls, […]

Looking at Real Estate Online vs In-Person

When looking for a new home, the first place many people look is the Internet. Within just a couple of minutes you have hundreds if not thousands of properties to peruse. There are many sites like Trulia, Zillow, Realtor.com, and of course your realtor’s website with easy to use filters to show you just what you’re looking for. It’s a great resource and a useful first step when looking for a home, especially if you’re moving from out of town. However, it’s important to note that pictures and descriptions can be misleading. Often times, the pictures will make a home […]

The Magic of a Campfire

A camp fire is magical. Everything about it is truly mesmerizing. Have you ever noticed that? Everyone heads out, gathers twigs and logs, and lighting it is more of an adventure than you’d think it should be. It’s surprising to me how all of the cell phones disappear. Stories are told and laughter is loud and abundant. Marshmallows on their own are sort of bland, but toast them over flames and they are groaningly scrumptious. Beer and wine taste better, friends and family linger. Time. Stands. Still. I love the background sound of the tree frogs, the snap and crackle […]
